Hey Guys,

This question might seem familiar to you mostly. But I have been planning to buy a Budget Monster Workstation in about $1400. well if possible 😛

Ok So, you all probably have great resources and experience in suggesting me a machine.

So the main use would be VFX / 3D Creation / Compositing and Video editing. Can you suggest me the best build in about $1400 ?

Thanks.

Solution
I would go for a build like this.

Biggest thing that stands out is the complete lack of a dedicated GPU, so gaming and GPU hardware acceleration is a no on this rig. However, I feel that the rest of it is worth that compromise. You have an unlocked mainstream i7 (cause X79 would require too much compromise) and 16GB of RAM, which is upgradable to 32GB of you want. 8TB of mechanical storage over four drives and an SSD, that gives you plenty of RAID options and ability to manage disk load while rendering or whatever. An XFX 750W PSU, complete overkill, but more on this in a bit. The 750D case gives you plenty of options going forward, nice and professional looking. 212 EVO cause what rig is without one.

If you come into some cash later...

If you come into some cash later on, would be very easy to throw GPU's and more professional grade hardware at it. That 750W PSU means dual mainstream GPU's, with potential for even more workstation grade cards. Its high wattage, so say you upgrade to say Haswell-E in the future, it can handle that power draw even with powerful GPU's in the rig.

Hey thanks.

I was wondering I can do with 1TB I have a external 1tb at the moment. Then what about ASUS motherboards ? and AMD processors ?

Also have a Windows Original 8 already so I can cut that part.

Does it save me any money for a GPU ?

I can certainly cut drive space at the moment. What do u say ?
