Workstation refurbished - Alternative to a new system?

Hello,
I have a computer from 2010, with an i5-2500 (4*3,3 GHz) with 8 GB RAM (DDR3), Disk is SSD 850 EVO. My Graphics Card is an Radeon HD 6800.

I use mostly Lightroom with Photoshop and its tools such as Panorama and Stacking which is Memory and time consuming. I seldom use Video Creation, but mainly because rendering takes very long.

If I would buy a new computer to get an improvement in performance I would consider an i7, 16 GB RAM. However the price tag is typically greater than 1000 Euro.
Therefore I wonder if a refurbished Workstation would be an alternative, and which to consider. These should however still allow Gaming and be quiet.

All depends on the specific components on this "workstation".
There are many, many around, for cheap. But with older parts, not much better than what you have now.
