Don't blame Blizzard for charging $60 to level up automatically. It's completely optional, but why do you think they offer it? Because people DO pay for this. Sigh. It's the same for DLC. Now there's lots of great DLC, such as Dragonborn in Skyrim, but there's so many cash-grab DLC items like costume packs or whatever (thanks Bethesda for no horse armor in Skyrim). Again, don't blame the companies. The blame lies mostly with the consumers that keep buying this. The companies DO have fault with DLC but that's beyond the scope of my comment here.

I accept the parameters that make the decision feasible, my only point was that it's symptomatic of an attitude to the player base. Didn't they originally say that each player was to get one free up-grade to 90 or did I dream it?

They did, and it says so in the article, you get one free upgrade when you purchase the expansion.

god they are going to make so much money out of this. and then wow will just wither away. i think this is their attempt at making one last quick buck.
Gee I seem to remember hearing WOW was going to disappear when Star wars came out , and before that it was Rift, and before that Guild wars 2, .... yet it's still here, and still the #1 mmo.
Well, on the bright side, now that people who don't like leveling can pay to skip it, maybe they'll make it interesting again. I can dream, right?
If you don't have time to level an alt character in another realm you tend to miss out on stuff so this is nice. I don't think it's going to be as huge as people think if Blizzard really wanted to make money on it they'd lower the price to $25, then they be flooded.

Yes, it's funny that people want to pay not-to-play. It's a lot like rich kids going to private universities and buying credentials without studying very much! Thing with WoW, people end up that they've invested so much time that they keep playing, avoiding acknowledging what a waste of time it has been! It's like a bad marriage!

I was in a 5 man with this guy that had paid some one to level his new Shamy for him. He was all excited but when the action started he had no idea how to play his guy to maximize his talents and abilities. He grew frustrated and eventually deleted the character and started a new one. This leveling is good for leveling an alt in a class you have leveled before but I don't recommend it for a new one.

For many (most?) people, the game really begins at the level cap with heroic dungeons and raids. Everything else before that is just a boring grind... particularly after the first one or two play-throughs.

I have done 1-70 over 10 times already and 1-60 once after Cataclysm, just to sample how old quests got switched around and low-level LDP. I can easily imagine why some people would like options to spare themselves most of that.

The next thing they are going to offer is cheats. Collision-hacks, speed-hacks, etc. People are paying for these, and then getting banned for using them. The best way to put the cheat creators out of business is to... join them! Your very own speedhack for only $175. "Since someone speedhacking is so disruptive to the gameworld, we decided to price accordingly so the decision to use hacks is not taken lightly. This is just another example of us reacting to our customers and giving them what they really want."

The problem with this is you actually have to PAY to get level 90. Blizzard just needs to die, good games or not. You pay for the game, for each expansion, for a monthly bill, AND to level up? The amount of developers tied up with WOW and their new game IP for MMO would get busted up into 10 teams or small companies probably if we could just get Blizzard to die. That would probably produce 10 games instead of ONE that only 8 million people in the world even like today. That is still by far the most successful MMO, so they have no interest in stopping the milking. I'll pray every day for their company to die so they can be broke up into a bunch of BETTER companies without the managerial/shareholder overhead, that favors the gamer a bit more like blizzard used to. I don't need another RMAH game, another MMO etc. I need true single player RPG's (with lan, IE Diablo2, not this D3 BS RMAH crap) that don't come with a subscription fee. I mean who pays $240 a year to play a SINGLE game? That's $60+ sub for a year, and every year you get dinged again for a expansion. If you want to play with your friends maybe another $60 for lvl90? WTF? That should be FREE. You are basically penalizing me for not playing with my friends for the last 5yrs or something? If I want to cheat you charge me $60? I hope farmers make this useless and sell their characters for $30-40 or something undercutting them...LOL. Why are they charging you to ruin your own game? Now I know why private servers exist. :) You can play WOW without ever paying them a subscription on multiple free servers. These jerks don't deserve our money these days.

If you're going to make this MMO crap, at least make it play offline so the rest of us can enjoy it like Shroud Of The Avatar (which you can play with friends or totally offline). I may not like to play with a 100,000 12yr olds (maybe I meant a million?), correction, I never want to play with them or hear what they think/say when I game 😉

You can pretty much any character less than 90. If you boos a character 60 or more your preofessions will also be boosted to max.

Paying for instant-lv90 is entirely optional. If you prefer grinding quests and mobs for 200 hours instead of working 1-6 extra hours the old fashion way, you can still do that too.

With a game that's almost 10 years old, a lot of people already have 5-11 90's so you boost one and have the option to pay to boost the others, big deal. It hurts no one, in fact it gets more people playing since they can skip the 1% (1-90) bit of the game that no one likes anymore cause they have done that many times over. And its not pay to win cause the 90 you get would have been good 18 months ago, not today.

Exactly. And with the xpac you still have to level 90-100 anyway.

Some people just find a way to complain about everything. Meanwhile Blizzard hit a peak subscription rate, took a sizable hit, and then slowly grew back subscriptions. They must be doing something right. MMOs are not easy to maintain. Just look how many went FTP and died.

Blizz would get more subscriptions again if they did another awesome South Park episode. Maybe? XD

Not sure If I'd use this service or not. If I did - I would level to 60 though for the crafting boost.. takes what.. a week or less? I actually enjoy the whole leveling process - except for Outland lol. Now for a crafting boost only... next cash shop item? o.o

Boosting character to level 90 is so interesting! You have to choose which character that you really want to boost according to this article,http://wowultimatum.com/blog/world-of-warcraft-warlords-of-draenor-instant-level-90-upgrade/
