I started up my recently built desktop and noticed these two temperatures that are way high. Should I be worried about them. Here is a screenshot. http://imgur.com/a/byi45

I started the computer from being shut down over night and immediately checked temps and these were the readings.

Thank you

I think what it means is that it doesn't have a value, so the software just sets a value in there.
But just to be sure, Does TMPIN3 and TMPIN5 fluctuate at all? look at both degrees.

the only high values i see there, on that small letters in that screenshot are tmpin3 and 5

as you see they are always at 88°c

i think that those sensors are reading nothing and are just unused sensors reading nothing, is common to see that situation haṕpen

not every sensor is perfect, nor the tool reading them, if you try with openhardwaremonitor you might get the same reading or very different one

if you don't fell, outside of the case any high temperature spot, different to where the cpu is located, and if you feel conformable with opening pc case and touching heatsinks on the mainboard to see if you burn your hand with 88°c, you will confirm if readings are real or just sensors doing nothing really

theoretically tmpin3 is sensor near gpu slot

and tmpin5, no idea what could be reading, perhaps as i say, nothing

supposedly, tmpin0 is mainboard, tmpin1 is sensor under the cpu, tmpin2 is chipset, southbridge of the mainboard and tmpin3 is gpu temp sensor

no idea what tmpin 4 and 5 could be on most mainboards, each manufacturer can decide what to do with those sensors, and what quality they are, usually regular to bad quality in cheap mainboards

they do fluctuate, right now after having it off since i posted the original screenshot, they are at 81C.

I do feel comfortable opening it, I just put it together recently. I will update after checking

Update: I don't notice anywhere that is that hot on the mobo. maybe I should check temps with another program and compare?

I did check it with no power, and I have an ESD mat :)

Here is a screenshot of speedfan readings. http://imgur.com/a/UjEqR

its easier to see when you click the picture in the link

i don't like speedfan much but as you see it doesn't even mention other sensors than cpu, gpu, hard disk and 2 temperature sensors

so i think the hwinfo is reading sensors not used in your pc, so it reads garbage form them, speedfan doesn't detect the sensors and doesn't show the info in them

as i said, each tool works differently with sensors

try with openhardwaremonitor to see how it responds

I guess I'll just keep an eye on it. I just tried to find mobo temps in the gigabyte easy tune app and It just shows CPU as well. Do you think it is something I should be worried about?

no, not at all

you asked us if two values on the mainboard are ok or not and i already told you that some sensors could be damaged, reading wrong or reading nothing and that the tools could be reading wrong the information delivered by the sensor

this is a normal situation, if it wasn't normal, there would only be a single tool to read values but as you see there is many and not all of them do the same job

ok, thank you for your time and the help
