Question Worse FPS after upgrading GPU

I recently upgraded to an RTX 3060 Ti from a 1660 Ti and the performance is not what I expected. In some games, it seems better(Ark, R6S, GTA), but in others it's the same or worse. Rust and Assassin's Creed Odyssey are good examples of that. CPU and GPU usage are both under 50%. I checked MSI Afterburner and it's not just 1 or 2 cores at 100 while the others idle, they all stay at or below 50. Hoping to get some insight into why this is and if I need to upgrade my CPU. Thanks.

Performance should either go up or not change with a new gpu, but if it goes down, that's almost always driver-related, in which case, I suggest you try cleaning out the current driver via Display Driver Uninstaller and updating it again.

Reasons performance doesn't change:
-One core or more is completely busy. Games are single core bound. The moar cores argument means nothing if one core is completely busy.
-Game engine not well optimized. Something far beyond your control - that's on the programmers.
-OS... like that overly full C drive. That has the potential to affect everything. Clean it up, if possible... wait, all those storage drives are pretty full... uhh...

Be aware that some in game performance benchmarks don't accurately represent how the game runs in real time. It may be more accurate if you monitor performance while playing the game yourself.
