Worth buying a 144hz monitor. if I mostly play at 60fps?

Hello everyone!

So I'm currently thinking about spending money on a new monitor. so I came across with this one Asus VG248QE

I'm mostly playing games on 60fps with my 970 but sometimes even more on games like CSGO (200fps) and I'm also editing videos

Does it make sense buying the monitor. and play on 60fps. do I need to upgrade my GPU? will it give me disadvantages the fact that it's not a g-sync monitor. or I'll have a nice experience

if you can afford it sure. a 144hz monitor would still have better picture quality and have more features because it is a higher end monitor then a 1080P one

however, if you are trying to do this on a tight budget then stick with 1080p monitor's

I bought a 165Hz monitor specifically for gaming. It helps me a lot in fps games like BF1. However, besides that I haven't seen any benefit to it. I haven't seen. There may be some but I can't tell the difference other than gaming. Having a 144Hz monitor and G-Sync is a godsend for Nvidida GPU gaming.

Even without G-Sync, which adds a lot to the cost, 144hz is great for fps gaming. I wouldn't be concerned with upgrading the GPU but you might want to consider doing so next year.

True the 970 falls behind a bit. but still is a great card to this day.

Well. if it's alright without g-sync then why not. I might buy the monitor. because I'm stuck with my F&U one which is decent. but sometimes I get more than 60fps in games like player unknown battlegrounds. and the ASUS one is the cheapest one I can find here in Greece. that and the AOC G2460PF

Better picture quality you mean. it doesn't have motion blur due to the 1ms response time

Also yeah I can afford it at this moment. but I'm asking if I should upgrade my GPU first.

For 1080p 60Hz monitor, the 970 is still solid. I'd say upgrade the monitor first. Monitors will last longer than GPUs (before you want to upgrade). I've got a 7yr old Dell that has been used with 4 GPUs. Since then I have added a 165Hz monitor. I plan to keep this around 5 years, but I'm sure my GPU will be gone long before then.
