Worth buying this gtx 1080 TI?

Hi guys,

Do you think this 1080 ti is worth its price? how much less powerfull would it be compared to a normal one, and vs a regular 1080.

I'm guessing that a 1080 Ti is probably going to be comparable to a 1170. Such a card will most likely be around the $500 - $600 range. That and it's probably not going to be available for another 3 - 4 months(maybe longer).

So you just have to ask yourself... can you make do with what you have now, until then?

I wouldn't buy the mini version. I would want a larger cooler.

It is worth it if your current video card isn't good enough for your use.
I bought the 980ti when it was new and I have no interest in the 1080ti because until I decide to go HDR the 980ti gives me excellent FPS in 1440p with max settings. If you can say the same about your video card, then why upgrade? If you can't play what you want the way you want than the 1080ti is a great card and it will still be great when the next gen comes out. At that point you do the same self-examination. Does my current card still meet my needs? Am I only tempted by the new card because it is new?

So i am on a gtx 660 now, and i want to start gaming ultra 1440p soon.. :/

What fps range do you want?

I am still on a 60hz 1080P.

But i want to buy a 1440p 144hz monitor. Not sure though, i would like a 4k monitor to be future proof, but the 60 hz limit bugs me.

I like the Zotac brand more, but the PNY has 3 fans. Needs a larger case to hold it. My money would probably be for the Zotac.

You can change countries and search lots of brands.

Unless you are planning on hitting and staying 144fps (144hz monitor) while at 1440p, the 1070ti might do as good a job. I love the new LG 32GK850G, but it wasn't available so I went with a 60hz screen and remain satisfied. No interest in 4k... too many pixels for todays video cards and I don't want to do SLI again.

The PNY one is going to provide the best cooling(not to mention it has a better physical appearance)

P.S. I do 4K gaming with a standard MSI 1070. Granted, the fans/heatsink have been removed & it currently has an NZXT G10 bracket attached with a ThermalTake Riiing 3.0 240 water cooler. Have not had any problems yet. Although if you go with this route, that's more expensive then just buying a 1080 ti

I had gotten the 1070 awhile back. Was handling 4K games fine, but the card would get really hot after awhile. That's when I went with the upgrade some time later.

Zotac cards are actually pretty good. As to whether it is worth it or not, if it is cheaper than other 1080s, than yes. But this one is actually less. There used to be a local computer shop that sold lots of inexpensive refurbished computers/parts & weird brands I had never heard of. I've had to make my fair share of returns/exchanges from stuff that didn't work properly. The 1st time I saw a Zotac card was at this shop. I remember thinking "this must be some cheap junk they got from China" and never wanted a Zotac card. Eventually, I received a GTX 970 that was a Zotac(as part of a trade). It ended up working pretty well.

Now i am actually doubting, with black friday (week) the gigabyte 1080 ti triple fan is only 30€ more then the normal zotac 1080 ti.
Don't know what to do, i know zotac doesn't mind if you change the cooler for warranty, not sure about gigabyte, i know myself and i will probably make a 3d printed bracked to make it fit with an aio cooler sooner or later. What way to go, zotac or gigabyte? (warranty,performance,durability)

This means the gigabyte is at 730€. If anyone knows a quite cheaper 1080 ti, please feel free to inform me. I just hope the 1100 series doesnt launch to soon and makes me feel bad. For my gtx 970 i payed 309€ and it thought it was alot.

I am starting to realize that if you look at a certain timespan, hardware costs the same whether you buy mid range or high end, high end costs more but you won't have to upgrade as soon, and you still have a high end card for quite a while. With mid range, you have the excitement to buy a new card, but at the end you will still have a newer mid range card..

Or maybe i should get a second hand 1060 6gb and wait for the 1100 series so i pay ( the same?) premium price for something brand new. dillema's!

Great on a day time the normal zotac went from 699 to 758€ on amazon france
