Hello! I was pondering upgrading my current GPU, And was thinking about switching over to Nvidea, Just wasn't 100% sure if it would be worth it.

Currently my specs are:
CPU: I5-4590

GPU: Gigabyte R9 280

Mobo: AsRock h97 Pro4

RAM: 8gb ddr3

PSU: XFX 550w

I play a decent amount of GTA V, ARK, Most likely going to start playing BF1 Aswell. My current card runs GTA fine, But seems to have a bit of trouble running ARK on higher settings.
I was also curious if I was to switch, How would I go about it to get a smooth transition? And are there any other cards I should consider?

Solution
Well since you're currently running an R9 280, I assume your power supply has the connectors needed to power the GTX 1060. Since the GTX 1060 basically sips on power compared to the R9 280, I'm fairly certain you already have the necessary connectors. Said connectors being one PCIe 6-pin connector or one PCIe 8-pin connector depending on whether or not you get an aftermarket card with a higher power limit.

How do you go about uninstalling the graphics drivers?
1) Wait for the new card to arrive.
2) Open Programs and Features, uninstall Radeon Control Center.
3) Download Display Driver Uninstaller, restart into Safe Mode and use DDU to remove any leftover AMD files.
4) Power down the machine, unplug it, press and hold the power...

Thanks for the advice! Just one more question, What would the steps be in terms of uninstalling drivers and such to get a smooth transition? Is there anything I need to worry about?

4) Power down the machine, unplug it, press and hold the power button for three seconds to drain any remaining power.
5) Take the AMD card out and put in the Nvidia card.
6) Start the computer normally and download GeForce Experience. It will guide you through driver installation.
7) Restart to finalize changes to drivers.
8) Done.
