Worth the upgrade cost and hassle

I'm considering upgrading from a XFX radeon R6670 to a r9 270x is it worth the upgrade hassle?... The new one is 2gig ddr5 old one is 2gig ddr3.

A HD6670 is about the same as a R7 250X. So the upgrade would be worth it.

Moving to a R9 270X will be a night and day upgrade, for games.
Just bear in mind the R9 270X needs a strong power supply, most need dual 6 pin PCI-E leads to run.
If the PSU isn't that strong, a R9 270 is slower but most only need the one 6 pin lead.
If the PSU has no PCI-E leads or is some cheap, nasty thing, swapping it would certainly be a good idea.

I've got a 5 month old 650w gold rated seasonic should be ok.

Yep - R9 270x, i5 4440 and Seasonic G650 should be great.
