Hi all, currently I'm running an FX-6300 with an HD7790OC 2Gb.

If I upgraded to an RX-560 4Gb, will that be useful, or will my CPU bottleneck it?

Oh, and I also have 12Gb DDR3 1600 RAM, on Win7 Pro 64-bit.

The PSU should be more than enough.

The 560 is faster than the 280 and much more effiicient, so if that's in your budget, I suggest going with that. The 280 is much older and uses more energy to do less. Unless you can get it and need to get it considerably cheaper, the 280 is not a great choice.

I doubt you will have a bottleneck, but should that occur, you can just lower the options that are CPU dependent.

For gaming, the 560 would be an upgrade and your CPU shouldn't be too much of an issue. You might consider upgrading to Windows 10 though, it seems to be a bit lighter on resources than 7. If you are having performance issues and the GPU is the cause or the GPU VRAM, then this should be a decent upgrade, if you can get a good price on it.

Depends what you are going to use the system for. There will for sure be a jump in performance. Rx 560 is good for not rly demanding games like League, Csgo, Fortnite maybe etc. If light gaming is the purpose of your pc, than sure, its the way to go. The cpu shouldnt bottleneck it imo.

So I could go with an R9 280? Might hold out a bit and see where prices go, and go with that.

Also, with the RX 560 or R9 280 upgrade, am I likely to need a PSU upgrade as well? (running a 4-yr old Thermaltake 600W now)
