Question Worth Upgrading for Gaming: i5/7500 to 3700x/MSI Meg Ace

Running a 1080ti powered by an EVGA 650 G2 supernova. Only concerned about gaming performance but I generally notice other applications (Discord, Avast behavior shield, Origin itself) spiking which affects my gameplay.

Well currently I’m betting your cpu usage is around 100%. Going from 4 cores to 8c/16t is a big improvement in removing CPU bottlenecking.

Yeah it hovers between 30-50% but sometimes something spikes and it hits 100% which crushes game performance. I can alt-tab out and kill it, but just wondering if it's time to upgrade the CPU.

If you have the money and want a steady gaming experience, a 3700x will do that.
