Would 2400mhz clock speed RAM make a big difference compared to 2133mhz on an A10 apu?

Im doing a £300 budget build and so far I've got an A10-6800K for £80 and I was unsure if I should save £10 and get a 2133mhz 2x4gb for £55 or 2400mhz 2x4gb for £65. But if I did get the 2400mhz ram would it make a better effect on graphics performance?

It is unlikely that you will be able to get the memory to run at 2400mhz. The AMD apu's do not like to go above 2133. Additionally the apu's only have small to no performance gains when running high freq memory. I recommend going with the 2133.

So if I was to buy a kaveri APU like a 7850k, would it still go by the same principals?

2400Mhz Ram on the 7850K should provide better performance than it would on the 6800k.

with the latest APU 7850k, what you want is not faster ram but lower CAS, and you only want Dual channel, (no quad channel support from AMD yet, sigh), AMD loves lower CAS count! as it is, according to sources anything over 2133Mhz is a waste, they don't have the support for it (i think) better to get 2133Mhz with a CAS of 9, AMD=wants lower CAS, Intel=Want more Mhz! from what i have read! and if you want abit more power for cheap, just go a dual Graphics the 7850k Crossfires with R7 240 and 250, best to get the Gddr5 versions!

also if you can afford the extra cash, go for the A10-7xxx all depends on how much you have budgeted and what mobo you are getting too and whether you are getting a case (also its form factor), best to look here to get a rough idea of what you will be spending.

You'll be better off with the 2400/10 vs 2133/9, graphics better and you also get the benefit of additional bandwidth when multi-tasking, imaging, video, VMs, et al
