Would a 1000w PSU be good enough for my system??

Solution

Yes it would make a huge difference playing on 1080, you lose frame rates moving up to higher resolutions.
I really doubt that the PSU is the issue unless the PSU is malfunctioning.
Have you tested your PSU or at least see if the voltages are within normal parameters.
Under-performing components are usually cause by high temps.
You could use one of these apps to check system temps and voltages.
HWMonitor
HWiNFO
I have built systems with those components with 650W PSUs.

Do you know what it can be ?? I want to play arma 3 but can barely get 60 fps on ultra. I know that thats okay as i can drop the frames but other people who have 1060s get like 100 fps on high.

Mind checking what i said below ?

I also have a spare 650w. Should i try that and see if there is a difference

I don't know if they have optimized the game to take advantage of more powerful hardware.

Arma 3 engine only uses 2 core (two threads), and the last time I played (HD 7870) I was getting 43-62FPS on ultra @ 1920x1080. It used to drop to 30-40 on intense firefights.
I just asked a friend that still plays it and the FPS are all over the map...as high as 87FPS and as low as 27FPS and the GPU is not even reaching 50% usage.

Thats really weird .... Like the game is just about playable as everytime i zoom in i lose like 30 frames. How come other people ( my other friend has a (I7 7700k) and get likes 100 fps on ultra. Is there a problem with my pc?? I was going to refund my psu

Did you check the temperatures and voltages while playing?

Temps are fine. 70C on gpu as i don't want it to be load and have fans on 40% and cpu is like 60c. I dont know anything about voltage so idk 🙁

I agree with jojesa, your PSU is most likely *NOT* the issue. It could most likely be one of two things - cooling or more of a driver / Windows issue. Before you go spending money unnecessarily, make sure that your Windows installation and all your drivers are up to date. If your system is underperforming *AFTER* that then there's more likely other problems that need to be diagnosed. The PSU you have now is a fairly decent unit. Upgrading it to a 1KW not only is unnecessary, it most likely won't solve your problem.

I use nvidia GeForce experience for my drivers and update windows when ever it comes up. I’m 99% sure all are up to date

An insufficient power supply will not cause parts to 'underperform'. Crashes or instability are signs of an underpowered system.

Arma 3 is one of the few game engines affected by RAM speed. What do you have vs what do the benchmarkers have?

just weird as to what i said above. Someone with a 1060 gets 100fps on high and my friend gets 100 on ultra with a i7 7700k & a 1080ti founders
