Would a i5 6500 bottleneck a Gtx 980

Solution

It maybe overkill today, but in 6 months to a year that NVidia 980 will be a perfect match for 1080p games.

The same thing happens with every highend video card.

True that haha.

Intel core i5 6500 is decent updated 3.6 Ghz Quad core it will never ever bottleneck The NVIDIA GTX 980. Nvidia gtx 970 is a decent GPU that can handle newer titles on ULTRA 1080p with playable fps.

So which one should I get. I want to last me some decent time but I don't wan too overpriced. I will play the latest games at 1080p or higher. Someone told me that if o overclock the Gtx 970, it is equivalent to the Gtx 980. Gtx 970 is $230 cheaters in Australia. Which one do you think I should get?

if your going to play games at 1080p for a long while then get a 970 if your going to run a 1440p setup then step up to a gtx 980ti a 980 isnt really ideal for alot of scenarios at any resolution for its price it performs slightly better for a much higher price @ 1080p

What about msi r9 390x. Is that
better

at higher resolutions the r9 390x is better but if you are only gaming at 1080p than get the gtx 970

If you feel differently about my opinion go argue in this thread please fanboys http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2687184/msi-gtx-970-msi-390x.html
