i own an Extreme 3 motherboard (with an I5 3570K) and i am looking into a better cooling solution. the Noctua D15 seems to be a great solution but due to the sheer size and weight i am very worried about the stress it would put on said board. this has me hesitating on getting one or getting a H100i from corsair. I also move my computer around quite a lot as i have to take it with me often.

As long as you're careful the Noctua will be fine. Now if it's a LAN box that you move every weekend I might go with the Corsair.
I've had a "large" CPU cooler in my various computers since about 2002 and never had a problem. I'd get the Noctua with no hesitation. The H100 will cool slightly better but only with 4 fans in push/pull making it much louder than the Noctua. Then there are parts that can break in the Corsair and it's more expensive.
