My question is, will a probably worse hdd drastically slow down my craptops ability to play movies from a disk or external hdd.

Solution D_Know_WD Feb 1, 2016 Hi there Sedweel, Well, I guess you shouldn't have any issues. Only boot/loading times depend on the HDD performance. Apart from that, as your current HDD is failing, it may be a good idea to back up the data stored on it.
