Would a TP-link router work with a Motorola modem

So ima get a motorola surfboard modem and a TP-link router and i dont know if they are compatible with each other. can someone tell me if they are compatible, if not, feel free to suggest a router to replace it with, thank you in advanced.

If the router has a wan port that is ethernet it will work with a cable modem. You can not though hook say a router that uses DSL for its wan port to a cable modem.
