Would a Xeon X5660 work with a Asus Rampage II GENE?

So i have a friend that is selling a PC with a Asus Rampage II GENE and ATI Radeon HD 5970 and a Intel Core i7 965 and some other shit for 700 euros or 792 dollars. I'm wondering that if i buy the PC could upgrade the CPU to a Xeon X5660 or something equal, or would it be smarter to just build a completely new system?

Thanks in advance!

Well it depends on that "other shit" a bit, but I'm gonna go ahead and say it's not worth that kind of money. You can build a better, more up to date PC for that cash. You could try to bargain over the price, but even if you get it to about $600 I would still try to buy something new with that, amirite?
Also if you would buy it, updating to a Xeon would be a waste of cash, since it wouldn't give that much of a performance gain for it's price.

Well the "other shit" that i was talking about is, 2x 60GB OCZ SSD's, 2x Western Digital 1TB Caviar, 6GB's of Corsair Dominator, Corsair 750W 750HX PSU, Antec P138 ATX Case. I'm probably just going to buy a whole new system, but thanks anyways!

ok, the other shit is quite good, but still, that system is out of date for quite a while and, in my mind, a new build would be a better way to spend 800 bucks on a PC. And I'm sure people here will help you make good use of that money.
