Would it be safe to leave a game downloading when I am in college?

Sure. The only time mine is off is 10 seconds during a reboot.

Heck my son's leave their systems doing downloads while they are at school or out with friends or out to the show. I'm not aware of them ever having any problems other then running up my electric bill with all the other stuff they leave on in their rooms.

My computer stays on constantly, only off for restarts and the occasional tweaking. It's perfectly safe to leave your computer running 24/7/365
