Hello guys i was wondering if it would be worth for me to upgrade to the GTX 970 im playing on a 1080p monitor and playing GTA 5 is giving me a somewhat stable 60 FPS with my current setup but some places i get as low as 40 fps witch i want to get rid off, i looked in MSI afterburner to see if there was any bottleneck but it dosent look like it BUT the game dosent use core 2 - 4 - 6 that much only half as much as the others idk why?? i play at normal / high settings

my current setup:
Asus M5A78L-M/USB3

AMD FX-8350 8 core 4ghz

MSI Radeon r9 270

8gigs of 1666mhz ram

1080p BenQ GL2450 monitor

500w corshair PSU

Windows 7 proffessional 64bit

so the question is: do i get any noticeable diffrence if i upgrade from the r9 270 to gtx 970 + 8gigs extra ram (16 total then) ?? thanks!

Solution
I still get fps drop with my build in certain areas. Granted that I'm running max settings + extended distance scaling except high resolution shadows and any other advanced graphics.
The FX 8350 isn't still that optimised for GTA V. Your motherboard also have weak VRM cooling so check what clock speed your cpu is running as well.

To answer your question, yes you will see a significant increase in performance.

I would not overclock on your motherboard, you need a decent 970 motherboard with at least 6+2 power phases.
You would also need a decent cpu cooler.

Download CPU-Z or HWinFo to check.

i have the 216 evo cooler (or what its called) some aftermarket cooler.. so i should not be ocing on this board? i would buy a new board and an intel processor if i had the money but just wanted to see if i could get any better performance for the system i have now.. i feel in some games my cpu is lacking tho it costed me more than my gpu and i just brought the cpu from a 4130 to this 8350 not really a big performance diffrence... so if i get myself a nvidia card (970 gtx) it would run better with my fx 8350 than my old r9 270?
