Would playing pc games on a tv be bad?

I'm thinking of building a pc in november (for the black friday/cyber monday sales) and i may not have enough money for a monitor.
would playing on a tv i have until i get a monitor affect the quality and/or gameplay?

One of my desktops is connected to a 43" LG 4K tv. It's been setup that way for a few years now. So far it's still working fine.
