Should not require a new one. Make sure that your PCIe power connectors are firmly attached to the GPU (clicked into place). Does anything show on the display at all?
Assuming you have room to fit in your case/chassis and your PSU meets the power needs of your system, then yes, these will work nicely together.
Tried to install the gpu but my computer keeps turning on & off. tried putting the old gpu(gtx 760) same thing happens. my psu is a Corsair CX750M , i think i might need a better psu. what do you think?

I re-checked everything , turns out the ram was loose lol. Thanks for all the help! its running fine now, just need to install the drivers.

I am in a similiar scenario with a H97 mobo and a MSI GTX 970 GPU and the card is inserted into the PCI slot properly and receiving power from the PSU (the MSI dragon lights up) but my monitor says no input. How can I resolve this?
