Would you say it's worth upgrading from amd fx to i3 skylake?

Hello,i'm currently using amd fx 6300 and have trouble playing old dx9 games like guild wars 2,tera etc. thinking of switching to i3 6100

my question is:
1-Will i see a performance drop in multi core supportive games?
2-Will there be a noticeable difference in single core reliant games?
3-i3 6100 and i5 6600 seems to have same single core performance does that mean i wont see a difference between two if i play old dx9 games who cant use more than 1-2 cores?

if i5 6600 and i3 6100 going to have close performance in OLDER games , i would like to keep that extra cost and buy a 6100 , i'm not playing new games at all ^^

Sorry if this was a bit too long! any help is appreciated.

thank you! what would you say about about never games like bf4 , would fx be faster than i3 or similar?

what are the spec of your pc right now?
the fx6300 is a 2012 cpu. but it is still a good budget gaming cpu. you should be able to play games like Gw2 without much problem.
have you update your video driver? did you do any OC?
reason i ask is caz Game is more Video card demanding than CPU demanding. all 100% of them. even some game require more CPU than other. but video card will still play a much more important role than CPU.
so if you were to "upgrade" to an Intel. you will be looking at 300-400 (cpu+mobo). so if you use that money to upgrade your video card. you should do much better than upgrading the cpu.

there is nothing wrong with upgrading to Intel but if you are do it don't do a i3. go for an i5.

i can upgrade to an i5 after i get the mobo and ram tho, and i5 costs a lil more than x2 compared to i3 where i live so,i was thinking of buying 6100 now and sell it for an i5 6600 later on if i ever feel it's not enough ^^ i'm fine with my graphics card as it runs bf4 multiplayer smoothly on highest settings even when paired with my stock 6300.I'm not playing latest gen games as i stated,i'm a pretty casual gamer than a hardcore :3

Agree, I would upgrade the card :)

But r7 370 seems fine enough for 1080p medium gaming when it comes to even new games, which i would conssider enough for someone who doesnt care about eye candy like me,that s why i wanna go with a cpu upgrade than graphics card first as i play lots of games that cant use more than 2-3 cores,i appreciate your help tho.

yep the R7 370 is a decent video card. it should get by for a few more years if mid setting is what you play on.

i3 is 160cad from ncix (Canada where i from) and i5 is 300cad. so yer it is almost 2x the price too.

if you think i3 is what you need than go for it. just keep a few thing in mind tho. it easy to sell a i5 to upgrade to i7 but it not as easy to sell a i3 caz a lot of people will upgrade to an i5 but not that many to a i3. so the 2nd hand market maybe a bit hard in few years.
since you are thinkinig of upgradeing to i5 in the future. don't cheap on the motherboard. that is a mistake many new builder make. there is always reason why the motherboard range from 60-300. get a mid end one if you don't want to spend too much. but don't get the low end one. it will save you a lot of work down the road.
