We have so many posters talking about this that and the udder ting about the latest CPU's....

Fact (1) AMD has a 64 on the market.
Fact (2) As yet Intel has squat on the market in a 64 rig.
Fact (3) We need 1 of each to fly some tests at.
Fact (4) Intel is still sleeping on it.
Fact (5) We all wait until Tom gets 1 of each and posts on the Main page.
Fact (6) then we can bitch not until then.

Probable Fact (7) AMD will have a new version out before Intel has the first one out.
Fact (8) If that happens the Intel Boys will need counselling and a towel to wipe the tears out of their eyes for another year.

for AMD sake, let's hope your right. I don't expect 64-bit to become mainstream anytime soon, not until Intel gets into the game. but i'd rather see Itanium2 come to desktop and eat Opterons for breakfast.

Intel has the Zeon CPU, but of course not for the Personal use. Intel probably wont touch teh 64bit PC chip realm till there is software that actually is compiled for the 64bit archietecure. AMD needs to get off their balls and exploit the position they put themselves into and rape the first-timmers awards.

Would people stop saying that AMD will have out another 64-bit chip by the time Intel will come out with their first, trouncing Intel's CPU.

You have jackshit to base that off of. I agree that AMD will most likely have their 2nd gen 64-bit by the time Intel's x86-64 (everyone knows that Itanium has been 64-bit for all a few years) CPU is out, but where do you get the 'fact' the AMD will trounce the Intel? WHERE?

It makes no sense to me how you can assume that AMD's CPU will be better. Just because they have another generation of production chips under their belt doesn't mean they are better. Intel's Yamhill project has been working long and hard on their 64-bit extensions, don't think they won't kick some serious arse.

Based on the FACTS that Intel already has a 64-bit CPU, a lot more money than AMD and 'friends in bigger places' would lead me to believe that Intel will not be behind AMD performancewise, especially when 64-bit software is released.

Fact 2 is BS, Intel has Itanium and Itanium2.
Fact 3 is BS, A64s and P4s have been tested side-by-side A LOT--just not in 64-bit software because only UT2k3 (supposedly doesn't need a 64-bit OS to run the 64-bit elements??????) and SuSe 9.0 are 64-bit, and few people care about Linux (especially when it comes to Windows performance).
Fact 4 is BS, the Yamhill team has been hard at work...even if Intel denies it.
Fact 5 makes no sense, do you know what you are talking about?!
Fact 6 is BS, you are bitching--many others already have and many more will.
Fact 7 is BS, look above.
Fact 8 has no substance, have you seen benchmarks of an Intel x86-64 CPU?? Or even a CPU that Intel designed to compete with the A64 (P4EE was only a marketing move, Prescott is what Intel should have as competition and Tejas should be a rapist)??

Don't get me wrong, I'm anticipating San Diego more than you (justification: you don't know jack about CPUs or PCs in general, look at your previous 400ish posts). I'm also anticipating Tejas and Prescott...I'll use whatever is best for what I do, little short of a gun or an amazing price will stop me.

You wanna see a 64-bit showdown??? Alright, G5s vs. Opterons vs. Itanium2s, then tell me who makes the superior processor.

Oh yeah, I'm still not so sure about this one: what do you have against Intel anyway?

Claims to AMD's future performance superiority can be based on precisely the fact that "they have another generation of production chips under their belt". That can make all the difference. Otherwise, it's a race to see who I'll blow several thousand $$ on.

The one and only "Monstrous BULLgarian!"

I hope your right.. i don't want to see AMD losing all this money. I don't want to imagine what would happen if microsoft got into the cpu business. Probably be a lot like using a g5 that's for sure. Strings strings and a little midget controlling my left arm.

It will only help in the fact that they have a lot less money available to them for R&D, the added market exposure and response is where it will help...but it still doesn't mean that the processor will be better.

Xeon is 32bit.
this is just a flamebait thread.

"G5s vs. Opterons vs. Itanium2s, " im not going to post anything except www.spec.org someone wearing asbestos post what they find there. one thing - its not itanium2 performing best, or being cost efficient. or in having the ability to run any 32bit software @ greater then the speed of a 1.5GHz P4 (1GHz P3). go and look.

Opps did a type zeon, I meant the overpriced itaniums in which I AM VERY MUCH AWARE OF THEM!!!!!!

Must of been cross-thinking from another post I was doing from another board.

And dont you ever accuse me of flamebaitting again!
