Woz: iPhone is "Somewhat Behind" on Smartphone Features

IMO, I hardly used up all the features that the latest smartphone has to offer. So having more features doesn't necessary make a better smartphone. With that said, I still perfer Samsung over Apple because of many advantages from the Android OS.
The major advantages of the Android over the iOS is that ease of settings change (for example, using my own custom ringtone). It would take several steps or jumping through some loopholes to do that in the iOS.
Also, I can choose what I want to backup/restore in the Android. I don't need lousy 'iTunes' to tell me what I can/cannot backup. Backup and Restore is the most annoying part of the iTunes software.

Apple is now buying up patents and is going to become a patent troll master! They don't care about there products anymore they just want money.

The beginning of the end for Apple's Iphone. Galaxy Note 2 ftw.

My first smartphone was the iPhone 3GS. There were only a few decent Android handsets on the market so I went with Apple. I later used an iPhone 4 borrowed from work. I am now using the Nexus 4. The 3GS was adequate for over 3 years and the iPhone 4 was very nice. The build quality was excellent. I did use a case so I wasn't worried about cracking the front or back. The screen on the 4 was great looking. I love my Nexus 4 now. It is a great phone too. The article says Woz said Apple is somewhat behind and also that they don't make lousy products. I would agree with this and don't think they contradict. Their products are may lack many things their competitors have, but they do make good phones.

Actually it's should not be a shock news nor comments, since it's first appearance, iPhone always-always-always have something behind in it's feature,
iPhone 2007 - It's lack 3G functionality, limited camera than it's competitor
iPhone 3G 2008 - It's lack of copy-paste feature that already exists on Symbian - Windows Mobile - Blackberry
iPhone 3Gs 2009 - The camera still much behind it's competitor, 3MP versus 8MP from Nokia-Sony Erricson, No flash for the camera, and have the irritating alert notification
iPhone 4 2010 - The camera get improvement but yet still lack in term of on paper specification. Yet another specification like memory. the competitor already bumped to 1MB
iPhone 4s 2011- The competitor already bumped to quad core (on paper specification) adding NFC, even Face/Smile unlock screen.
iPhone 5 2012 - Seem doesn't do anything to 'catch-up' the competition rather than changing it's design, processor update
But it's still give the greatest, ease and simplicity for the User Experience. Most people that I know having both iPhone and the other 'open sourced' or linux system are agree for iOS User Experience despite lack of customization and cross data-exchange between application.
So Woz's comment actually is not new fact

ps: English is not my native language, before anyone complaining my grammar.

I still have my 3gs on os 6.1, its a great phone for over 3yrs old. My mate has a iphone 5 and its pretty poor without LTE, we can sit there and look up things on 3g and my 3gs is way faster. I think the 5 has a very bad antenna design when using the older networks and a lot of ui bugs from the new a6 chip or he has a dud phone, but 3 other guys at work have the same issue with there 5. No way i will upgrade. I dont really want to leave all my apps and cloud data behind but the galaxy s4 looks very inticing and seeing all these issues first hand is making me think different. When LTE arrives where i live i will finally upgrade otherwise i see no benifit other than cosmetic differences.

I had my Samsung S3 for 3 months now.
And never did I regret buying one.
It is a versatile phone with a lot of features Apple can only dream of.
What is most impressive is the GPS.
It is fast and work every time.
I think it was a clever move to use Google map view on this regard.

[citation][nom]fearless1333[/nom]Well you know it's bad once the CEO of a company says his own product is lacking. (Quite a euphemism imo)[/citation]
Woz isn't Apple CEO, he's not anything even in the company.

on another note (no pun intended), people are superficial sheep and simply don't care how behind apple is as long as look like they are affluent..aka..have an iPhone....it's hilarious

Woz is indeed a wize man. He has also previously admitted that Microsoft is being more innovative than apple, and judging by just how much more innovative the Lumia 920 to the iphone 5 (or any other phone for that matter) I can see what he means.

I don't think he contradicted himself at all. He is right that the iPhone is behind in some areas, but just because a product may be behind in some areas doesn't mean that a product is bad.

I know one thing that is making me, unfortunately, consider an iPhone for next phone is the fact that Apple controls the upgrades, not the carrier. However I have to weigh this against the loss of widgets I currently have on my Android. Things like controlling the upgrades and the updates and the fact there isn't the fragmentation that Android experiences are likely good enough reasons for a lot of people to buy the iPhone.

Thankfully people have choices because we all want different things when it comes to a phone. Here is hoping Microsoft actually does something good with WP8 and really incentivizes app creation for the platform so we can have at least 3 good choices.

I recently went on a trip with some friends to a conference (they ALL had iPhones). With the Lumia 920, I became the camera man. They also said that the iPhone needed to come its wireless charging, were shocked to see the difference in picture quality, and, since no one had NFC, I had to email like 50 pics. I eventually put them on skydrive and sent a link XD. They were also impressed with the indoor maps. Just by walking around malls, people said, 'wow, what a beautiful case (I didn't use one). I pretty advertised for the Lumia and windows phone the whole trip just by taking out the phone. MS should really hire me to be an evangelist.

What is the app support like for Windows Phone 8? I have had the Bionic from Motorola now for about a year but I am tired of the Android fragmentation and the carriers delaying upgrades to the OS and such and I really don't want to get an iPhone.

Also, does Microsoft handle the OS upgrades like Apple does with the iPhone, or do they have to submit builds to the carrier like Android OEMs do?

Itunes is the reason I wouldn't touch any Apple products. They make good kit, but the fact that I can't update without using that nonsense due to their control freakery puts me off.
