Okay, I did my research and got me a copy of wpcredit.

I'd read the reports about a register mis-set on many AMD mobos causing CPU's to never idle properly - and that this tweak was capable of reducing idel temps by 10 degrees.

I thought I'd give it a go (see here for details)..

Firstly my system hung - straight off, no death performance - just locked. Not looking promising. I had a thought - I disabled Norton Antivirus. Same (after rebooting obviously).

3rd time - back to stock 1.33 config, no NAV etc. Set okay. Off we go. I leave it a while and my idle temp does indeed come down, by all of the promised 10 degrees C. I'm amazed and impressed.

Test 2 - what does it do for running temps? With seti running for a while, it creeps back up to it's old max. Not really surprising, but worth checking.

Right - onto wpcrset. Set a registry entry to do this every time windows starts. Runs okay, off we go. Reboot - noo problem. Want to up my system speed - won't get into windows. Back to default setup and straight into win2k. Disable the change, reboot oc'd and in fine again.

So - it seems that the tweak does not work on my system oc'd or with NAV running. Does this agree with what anyone else sees - or have I missed something?
