Apparently i got the <Mod Edit> end of the stick in terms of silicone lottery. My 2600 with the aerocool verkho 2 (2 heatpipe tower cooler) hits mid 80s on stock AIDA64 benchmarks. My friend on the other hand gets 3.85ghz with a stock cooler at the same temps. My question is that if a slap on a wraith prism, would it be a better option than something like one of those cheaper generic 6 heatpipe chinese coolers? The issue with said chinese coolers is that they use 90mm fans which seem to be kind of crappy overall. Some benchmarks put the prism up as a 212 equivalent and some don't. For reference the evo tends to perform better than the generic chinese stuff.
Any help would be appreciated.

The prism will almost certainly be better than that aerocool, which in all honesty is pretty much tat.

Its still a fairly noisy cooler under load though.

Can you source one cheap??
If not there are probably better options.
i can source one that isnt the issue. my main point is that is it even worth getting? i know the aerocool is crap and i need to replace it, but given the fact that my cpu runs fairly hot, would the prism be enough to oc to 3.9 4ghz ish and not melt?

Probably but at the expense of noise, it still only has a 92mm fan at the end of the day.
thats fine i guess? i am just a bit paranoid because of how crappy hot my cpu runs and i want a one and done cooler in not a lot of money. The chinese crap was tempting so i wanted to know if the prism might be the better choice?
