I would like to know if there is a windows application that does the following hard drive tasks for checking hard drives for sector errors: -

1 – write zeros to hard drive and verify it by reading back
2 – pause or stop the application writing zeros, and have it resume just where it left off (great for large hd that can take a long time)
3 – write a log file at the end of the task, so the results can be viewed.

Some applications that I found will do #1 but I don’t know of any that can do #2 and #3

I don't use windows, so no opportunity to test such utils, but would any of these meet your requirements?

I took a look at the ones from lifewire, but I don't they are what I'm looking for.

I was thinking more along the lines of the following: -

hd tune pro
hard disk sentinel
hdshredder

These will do #1 but I don’t know of any that can do #2 and #3 using a Stop>continue from where I left off > save a log of the results

Thanks for the suggestions.

I think most of the existing applications doesn't seem to allow for a pause and continue.

I will give Victoria a try.
