I installed a new monitor, deleted the old in device mgr, installed the new monitors driver.

When I reboot it goes back to the old, disconnected monitor ????????????????

Solution
Hmmm. A little more info would be helpful.

So, just to be clear, you have two monitors connected? To the same GPU? If you have both and want to use both, why did you delete one from device manager?

Anywho, try the obvious and disconnect the old one having only the new one plugged in, make sure it works and driver is installed. Also, go into the graphic driver for your GPU, and choose the screen you want as primary and apply that setting (this would be done when both screens are plugged in and showing the desktop.

That should fix it. If you list your specs, including GPU, we can make sure and give exact instructions.
