Hi yesterday my 2TB HDD started giving me SMART failed and Reallocated Sector Count Exceeded error.
Discussed in post
http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2481395/seagate-hdd-failed-suddenly.html

So I have decided to buy a new HDD of 1TB capacity which has a maximum length of warranty. Can you guys please advice me which one I should buy ?
I need:
1. Maximum warranty.
2. Good performance.
3. Price cap 100-120 USD (INR 7000)
4. From Flipkart.com or Amazon.in
5. Preferable brand WD (My three seagate HDD's have failed in last 2 years)

And what tests I should run on the brand new HDD to check if it is healthy or not.

Thanks

Hey itspriyank. You could take a look at the WD Black drive. It is a high performance HDD, designed for gaming and demanding software when it comes to video editing etc. It also has a 5-year limited warranty and I'd say it's pretty much within your price range and covers each of the specified requirements you've mentioned.
If you want to take a closer look at its features, here's a link where you can check it out: WD Black drive

Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

Two of them were about 4 years old and one 3.6. So I think there shouldn't be a problem with environment.

Hi I have heard a lot about WD black drive. So can you please tell me which tests should I run on the new drive to test it ?

If you want to test the drive's health, I'd recommend that you download DLG (Data Lifeguard Diagnostic) Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for Windows.
As for the difference between the drives. The WD Purple is designed and tested specifically to give the required performance for surveillance systems. As for the WD Black drive, this is a dual processor, high-performance drive with features and technology which increase its performance significantly when it comes to gaming, video editing and high demanding software. Also besides all else the WD purple drive comes with a 3-year limited warranty and the WD Black drives has a 5-year limited warranty.
You can take a closer look at their features here:

Let me know if you have any additional questions about those or any other WD drives.
