I know this has been discussed but those threads are old, now that these monitors have been out for a while I'm asking those with first hand experience what they prefer for single 980 ti 1 monitor setup.

I cannot decide if over $700 CAD more is worth the extra real estate on the X34. I am upgrading from Alienware Optx AW2310 23" 1080p TN 120Hz, which the quality of this monitor does also make me consider the Dell U3415w 75Hz OC ...

I have to say the x34. First the curve screen indeed gives an immersive experience (I love watching on the curved TV at home and playing when I can). So the x34 will give you the best experience, but a single 980ti won't run that full resolution at the 165hz of the x34 (that resolution is just too high for a single gpu to handle that many frames). Thats why I suggest looking into the Z35. What I really love - for me 1440p (2560x1440 of the the xb271) is too much, I don't need that many pixels, but they stress the GPU a lot and it is hard to run everything at 150+ fps (to utilize the 165hz of the screen), while the z35 has the more than sufficient for me 2560x1080 and your gpu will fly on it. That's just me however. If you are willing to get the x34, then in my eyes you should be willing to invest in a second 980ti.

Oh I see. I can't afford another 980 ti and waterblock and a monitor. I'm interested in an IPS panel too. Hmmm maybe the Dell or the XB271HU. ...

I almost bought the Dell U3415W but the input lag is just bit much for me otherwise it looks like it's really good. The XB271HU has all the best specs but you know what? That fugly stand (already Googled what paint to use if I did decide to buy it) and missing out on 34" knocks it out of consideration too. Gonna have to get a newspaper route and night job washing dishes somewhere for the next 10 years plus remortgage my home for an X34 but I feel there is no other alternative right now. ASUS making us wait for their 34" is too far away for me.
