X34P or X34

AAAAHHHH.

I've been waiting for an announcement on the X34P but it seems nowhere in sight. I just saw on redit a post of a chat picture from Acer that it has been pushed to Q4!!! 2017. I sent them a message myself but probably won't get back a response til tomorrow, or at least later today. But I don't know what to do anymore. I really want to get rid of my 60Hz 1440p G257hu smidpx as a main monitor to something with G-sync and 100Hz+ preferably.

Should I just get a 144hz XB271HK and call it a day and wait for the X34P?

Or should I just get the X34 now?

What would you guys do? Budget isn't really an issue for me.

Yeah I did, I actually get it today. The X34P actually offers 100Hz NATIVE refresh rate (as opposed to 75Hz OC UP TO 100Hz), a slightly steeper curve, a better menu functionality, and an aluminum back instead of the gloss black plastic. The 100Hz guaranteed RR and the better menu functionality are the reasons I really wanted to wait, but I got a message back from Asus who said it was pushed back to late Q2-early Q3, making it at least 6 months off still and I just can't wait that long. I might upgrade in another year after the QC gets sorted out, hopefully I can still sell the regular X34 for a solid amount by then and put that towards the P, but I guess we'll see.

In the meantime I am very looking forward to getting into some sweet UWQHD gameplay in BF1!!!

Well Nvidia just announced their HDR panels but they are going to be 144Hz 4k.

As for the UW I will let you know, it gets here today lol. I am super excited for it, but there are downsides as well as there are MANY hoops you will have to jump through to get some games to work with UW. I however do not care as the games I play the most support it and I am willing to work a bit to get the games that don't to work with it. Or you just have to put up with the black bars. NBD.

But the Asus Facebook page moderator told me that the X34P is scheduled to launch late Q2, early Q3, wouldn't be surprised if they delay it to Q4, but I simply couldn't wait and jumped the gun because it is $200 off right now and I believe I could sell it for about $800 when the X34P drops and I will only lose a couple hundred getting the P.

Up to you to wait I decided not to. I will definitely update after I play around on it a while. Hopefully by tonight I will have a good feel for it. I know from watching Youtube clips Battlefield 1 looks freaking insane in 21:9!! Very excited.

Okay so I just barely got it set up, so far I already think its well worth it. I only have the RR at 60Hz for now but I will mess with it more later and see if I can successfully OC it to 100. But it looks DAMN good at 60Hz anyways so I might leave it alone. No tearing whatsoever because of the G-Sync. The light is awesome I actually didnt know it had RGB LED's until today lol. I might not get the X34P at all now this thing is fantastic, the menu wasnt too bad for me because I already have an Acer with the same menu navigation, annoying buttons but whatever.

Running the dual monitor setup, the GPU is pushing a bit harder because I turned off vertical sync, but I am perfectly fine with it. Need to jump through the few hoops to get everything running but I'm already well sold on it.

Update: I've played with it quite a bit now and I'm absolutely loving it. I still have some work to do to make all the games work at 21:9 but most of the games I play have support for it so I'm having a great time.

OC'd to 100Hz no problem, butter smooth even when it drops in fps.

It does have a little bit of BLB but it is hardly noticeable unless the screen is very dark so it doesn't bother me too much.

All in all I absolutely love it. I'm not worried too much about the P anymore lol.
