Hi everyone,

I’ve run into an issue with my old X570 motherboard, which I’m trying to set up in a new case for resale after upgrading to an AM5 platform. However, the motherboard isn’t responding to the power button or the shorting of the power pins to turn on. Here’s a detailed breakdown of what I’ve tried:

  1. Initial Symptoms:
    • The motherboard’s LEDs light up, indicating it’s receiving power, but pressing the power button or shorting the power pins does nothing.
  2. Troubleshooting Steps Taken:
    • Swapped the RAM for a known working kit from another PC.
    • Tested with a known working PSU.
    • Checked different power outlets to rule out electrical issues.
    • Reseated the CPU.
    • Removed all components and ran the motherboard on the box with only the speaker connected (no CPU, RAM, or GPU). No POST beeps or response at all.
    • Verified the case power button works by testing it with another motherboard.
  3. Results:
    • Despite LEDs being lit, the board doesn’t power on or beep in any configuration.
  4. Other Observations:
    • I’ve since tested all other components (CPU, RAM, PSU) with a new motherboard, and everything works perfectly.
    • This leads me to believe the X570 board is dead or has an unusual issue.
I initially set the board aside for about six months but am now revisiting it to see if anyone in the community has additional troubleshooting steps or insight into this kind of behavior. I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Thanks in advance!

I know it won't post, but I'd assume it will beep with just power plugged in with a speaker plugged into the speaker header, as this motherboard support USB Bios flashing without components..? I haven't tried it yet as it's just occured to me that this is possible, I don't have a cpu that I can put in it currently.

Nope. Nothing without those minimal components.

You should leave alone to prevent possible damage until you can test properly.
