X58 triple channel won't work

Hello. I have asus p6x58d-e. I was using it with 2x8gb corsair vengeance lp ddr3 1600mhz and i decided to buy another module for the benefits of triple channel.i installed the ram and the computer won't even post now. It just restarts in a loop without completing the POST. Windows loaded a few times somehow, but only showed 16gb ram. I tried every combination,and every slot. Rams work when they are two,but when i add a third stick the problem occurs. I really regret buying the ram now. Can someone give me suggestions.

You need an exact same 8 Gb of that corsair vengeance lp ddr3 1600mhz module for the Triple channel to work and that wont even guarantee it will, usually to prevent problems there are kits with the said number of modules needed (Dual, Triple or Quad channel) tested by the memory maker...Check with your reseller...
Btw, you need to use the same color slots for it to work, i dont know which one is the primary and which one the secondary by the image alone...

What type of processor do you have?

I have Xeon X5650. I have 3 blue slots and 3 black slots.the user manual says i should use the blue slots for triple channel to work. I bought absolutely the same module. I must admit i noticed my old ram is version 4. something and my new ram is version 3. Something, but when i tried one of my old modules with the new one everything worked fine in dual Channel mode.

Do you have the possibility of taking your PC to the reseller and trying a Full set of triple channel memory on your set? If it does work also you might have a faulty slot...in that case only warraty would help...

No, i don't have this option, because the pc is built by myself and i don't have warranty for the motherboard because i bought it second hand

Yeah, the part of the warraty was expected for DDR3 is getting on its years, but i was meaning you taking your pc to where you bough that new memory and ask to try a triple channel kit there if they have one available...

Do you have to go into the BIOS to enable triple channel or is it supposed to do this automatically? (I am not familiar with that motherboard).

Yes it is supposed to do it automatically. The black slots work only if all of the blue slots are populated. If i put 2 ram sticks in the two working blue slots and the third ram stick in one of the black slots the pc sees all of the ram but of course not in triple channel.

Well, if your middle blue ram slot isn't working and the black slots only work if all of the blue slots are populated, then you will have to use 2 x 8 GB in dual channel mode, or use the 2 x 8 GB in the blue slots and the other 8 GB in the black slot so at least you have 24 GB. I would think 16 GB of RAM would be enough for most applications.

Wait! You say the black slots only work if all of the blue slots are populated, but you also said that you put 2 ram sticks in the 2 blue working slots and one ram stick in the black slot and the pc sees all of the ram. So that would imply the black slots are recognized even if all of the blue slots aren't populated. Have you tried just the 3 black slots to see if triple channel ram is working?

Also, try installing and removing the ram from the "non-working" middle blue slot several times. Perhaps there is some oxidation or corrosion on the ram slot due to it not being used. You might spray some contact cleaner in the slot with the power off to see if that helps.

Are you sure there no bent cpu pins on the motherboard? If there are, that could affect the integrated memory controller on the cpu, causing a ram slot to not be recognized.
