i am putting together a gaming computer this summer and have decided on the following set up:

A64 3200+ (Newcastle)
CHAINTECH VNF3
MSI RADEON 9800PRO 128MB
1GB (2x512) OCZ enhanced latency platinum edition
LITE-ON DVD/CDRW combo
WESTERN DIGITAL 80GB HDD
THERMALTAKE XASER III w/ 420 watt PS

I have recently been thinking about changing the video card from the 9800 PRO 128mb to the X800Pro 256mb, this would require me to buy a cheaper case, ie the EZ Media AXIO 733 w/ 480 watt ps for 48 dollars instead of thermaltake's 125 dollar price tag, also i was thinking of maybe changing the cpu to the 3000+ instead of the 3200+.

is all of this worth it, is there anything else that i could save money on, say value RAM?

1GB (2x512) OCZ enhanced latency platinum edition...value RAM
- might be a tad expensive. Never buy generic ram, but if you want to save, something a bit cheaper is not going to hurt your performance too much: OCZ without all the leetness, for example.

If you're a gamer, I would definitely suggest one of the newer cards: X800pro or 6800gt.

A cheap case/PSU can give you lots of headaches, so make sure its not a piece of shite before buying. I recommend buying them separetly.
