Lol =) (types at 2:36 a.m.) but anyways, I found a sweet deal on ATi on x850xt agp for 349.99 w/ free ship and no tax (not yet confirmed, hopefully i'll update on that). As my brain farted and decided to go for it, I ordered it @_@.

I want your guys input on this one, is this the smart move at all? will it out perform the 6800 nu? will it rock?

Nice deal! Only thing better would be if you wanted an AIW X800XT for $330 after rebate.

I was cruising on the anandtech forums to find good deals. But this one heck, 100 $ instant rebate and free shipping. What could you go wrong? used to be an alienware promotional code, but it change to a different one. and it is still working.

look at the bright side ! I called ATi and they are going to ship it and could receive it on friday or next wednesday. I checked the recent benchmarks in tomshardware.com. x850xt blows my mind. especially being at a cost of 349.99 only !

Well, nothing will beat it for the money, so enjoy. Wish i could do it; I'd gladly trade my BFG 6800U OC for that card.

why settle for 2nd fastest now, choices would be favorably aplenty soonish... with the upcoming r520s debut is sure to induce an overall price drop in its current line, forcing even its competitors to drop theirs. its a vicious cycle, but, it does help to bite back.

and the beat goes on.....

AGP R520 won't hit the market place until about 2-3 months AFTER the PCIe variant so don't expect price drops anytime soon, especially since there won't be anything from nV to motivate that drop either.

It'll be a long wait, and that price is damn good, so I don't see why you wouldn't want to jump on it now. Waiting 4-5 months simply to save $30, Yippeee!

Resale influence on these is a limited consideration, it's primarily a consideration of PCie vs AGP. For AGP this is one of the best deals he's likely to see while this card is still 'current'.

EDIT: if you think about it, resale on this COULD even be higher than the PCIe version because while the PCIe has the 'offer' of SLi/Crossfire, there's not as much attaction for that to keep the price up, compared to this being among the last generation of AGP. There will likely be alot more PCIe card out on the market latter, yet there won't be a large flood of this calibre AGP until the R520 hits full retail, and even then you may see far stickier pricing.

well its his choice and his moolah$ afterall, since its already a donedeal. whether it'd be a wise decision on his part?...no comment.

What AGP card, or PCI-e for that matter, even comes close to that level of performance for the money he spent? If he has an AGP system and wanted a high end card, it was a wise decision. What better way to keep resale value than to start by getting it $50 cheaper than anywhere else.

lets put it this way...i am about to sell my BFG6800GT to a friend for $275 and only put $100 down to buy this card.

And when i upgrade again to NF4, Venice, and high end Nv or ATI in like 4months.....this card will still be able to play all games at a rediculously high level and i might end up selling it for the exact price i bought it for. Which is UBER-RARE.

I'm sure there will be people out there with AGP slots trying to boost there computers. The ones who have 6800NU's who want a better system but dont want a total upgrade yet.

Yes, PCI-e is the future, but there are still **A LOT** of AGP slots that would like a nice 850XT (OC'ed beyond 850XT PE speeds.)

I have an AGP ATI X800XT-PE card.

Which is faster, the X800XT-PE or the X850 XT ?

From what, isn't the X800XT-PE clocked a little higher and both have 16 pipelines?

"What AGP card, or PCI-e for that matter, even comes close to that level of performance for the money he spent?"

ive already said my peace but if youre talking fps per $ value then it'd be true for ATI if hes going AGP; NOT true if hes taking the PCI-e route. again, whether or not hes fully "in the know" of what a lil'more consideration couldve done in the bigger scheme of things?...no comment(again)

Thanks, that is what I suspected.
