Hello everybody,

So I am about to order my parts but I just don't know if I should go with the Z97.
I had this in my mind: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/thijdjo/saved/6wyypg
Then one of my friends told me I could also go with a X99 rig.
So I really appreciate your advice on this and maybe you can make me your ultimate $1700-$1800 Z97 and X99 build. I only need/want 120GB of SSD storage. I would like 16GB of RAM for editing my videos for youtube. But if you can't fit that into my budget I can also add another 8gigs later on. An i7 processor is a must for me aswell as a GTX980. I do need an OS too. Thank you everybody.

you can certainly go with x99, but you'll have to get a lesser GPU (not that there's anything wrong with GTX970), and spend the extra money on DDR4 memory sticks.

that aside, if the only processor intensive thing you do is video editing for youtube (aka not super high res like 4K), you'll be better served getting the z97 system you have now, and look for upgrade possibilities 3 years or so down the road depending on what Intel comes up with. Modern games are not ready to utilize the extra cores from X99, that combined with the extra cost of DDR4 memory right now makes it a poor investment IMO.

I would recommend going X99 because then you would not have to upgrade much for a long long time. So heres what you can get for around ur budget.

For your budget, I would go with something like this X99 set up with a 980. I threw in some extra SSD space in this build because it fits but you don't have to get it. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/68bVHx

This one has a smaller SSD but a quiet and professional style PC case set up that I believe would be something you would finitely like. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/xJgCK8

I threw in an extra fan just for some extra cooling (intake), but it is optional. I also went with quality cases (the first is a budget case but a quality one that is better than the aercool). I like to not have to skimp anywhere.
For your budget, this is as good as it gets in every department

most of it was fine, switched out the motherboard and the psu - after that everything looks very tidy.

Wow thanks for all the quick replies. And yes I'm going to use this pc for recording gameplay and editing for youtube. One thing, isn't the PSU chosen in the rig links a low quality one? Wouldn't I be better of with taking a G2 series PSU and 8GB of RAM to start with considering most X99 boards have 8 RAM slots. I can easily put an additional 8GB in there and still have lots of space for future upgrades? Do I need an 850W PSU or will the 750W EVGA G2 be good? And what is the best aircooler for an i7-5820k? Will the Phanteks I chose be fine or is that not good enough for overclocking in the future? I like the color and design of the phanteks but if that holds back the performance I have no problem with replacing it. Thank you for helping me out.

The 850w in the links is on sale right now and is still good. the G2 750w would be fine but the B2 850w is cheaper right now.

I should have mentioned that I live in the Netherlands, those sales aren't available for me? PSU's are very expensive in my country I don't know why. Also the amount of DDR4 RAM sticks in my country are very very limited. And DDR4 is even more expensive in the Netherlands
I don't know if this link works but this is what is available in my country: http://tweakers.net/categorie/545/geheugen-intern/producten/#filter:TU5LCoMwEL3LrK1MTKIxBxC66Mpl6SJoKClaJZFSKt69EwV1M495P94Mg2-tr5ztWtAwevcKkGxkPfiJOBOanRltcyXfhSUwmqet3c-CZohJTDb25t6g6Qnkq1w3WR9AzyBFvH0UQbEyo7refOlhOVcClgRkeTgOeZPkIQks811dm8jAeBEdH9OBvlMlCnjEnDqxihUFBRVHuUG2gYggBK4JpvhpKKZ47ExlIWFZlj8
This is a link of all the modular 750W+ Gold+ certified PSU in my country: http://tweakers.net/categorie/664/voedingen/producten/#filter:TYxBCsIwEEXv8tdREqtNmwMUXLjqUlyEdJBIaktSRCy5uxMK4mp4b97MiikOFDtPYYDBHP0jQWyyn-LCzib3MzO5M3c7JTDbO_X-QzBKSlEuHV38E4Yhcdf5sFBMMCvUoWnLHMsa-iT3kj-O9s2ktCyYBVdtVaqXDTBXVE2tcdv88d9Xqmaf8xc
What would be my best pick?

If you are not going SLI, these are a great choice http://tweakers.net/pricewatch/zoeken/?keyword=seasonic+620w

honestly i would save some money and just get a 970. is not that much better then the 970 , certainly not 200, which you could get 16gb more ram for that money or sli two 970(s) down the road and have way more power for not much more

Oh and will the Phanteks be fine for an i7-5820k with an as high as possible overclock?
If I'm going with an X99 motherboard I will choose between MSI X99S SLI PLUS and ASRock X99 Extreme4. Which of these would you recommend? If I go with the X99 I will be buying RAM with a RAM speed at 2133MHz since that's the cheapest. If I want to overclock this do I need something extra for it? Is the difference between Gold+ certified and Bronze+ certified noticable and is a gold plus certified PSU worth the extra money? The PSU's you listed were all 620W PSU's. I don't plan on doing SLI but will 620W be enough for overclocking everything?

I don't know what a good overclock is on the i7-5820k. Maybe like 4.2GHz?
But I would like to keep the temperature below 75degrees under load. Will the Phanteks be capable of this and if not, which aircooler will?

i use a cooler master d92. i haven't played with that processor before so i don't know he exact number. if you are that worried maybe go with a prebuilt water cooling system.
