Xbox 360:Can HDMI & Component be used at the same time?

Hello,

My Son-in-law got a gaming chair for Xmas but his TV does NOT have any type of sound out port (not even headphones!)

I figured he needs to get a full component Xbox cable to get the sound out for his chair to work but he wants to keep using the HDMI connection he uses now - so, will the Xbox output BOTH signals at once or does one cut the other out?

And I guess the next questions:

Is there an easy way around this or a better way of getting the audio to go to the chair??

Apparently not but an Audio adapter seems to be an answer:

Yes, this type of Audio adapter works fine for TV's that dont have any audio input.

The HDMI can still be used to get the best video at the same time.
