Mmmm...you don't want the drivers that come with the disc. Chances are they're outdated and won't work anyway. It's easy enough to get the drivers from Microsoft. Unless you're locked out of internet for some reason. But it takes just a few minutes to download from Microsoft's website onto a flash drive.

As for a receiver that isn't cheap and won't break after two days...I have some off-brand type that's been working for months now. I don't recall the model since I'm at work right now and can't just take a look at it. It's not like they have moving parts or anything that will break.
Just a tip as well, if you have to manually install the driver, be sure to choose the wireless receiver driver and NOT the wireless CONTROLLER driver for the adapter. Otherwise, you'll be trying to install the drivers for the controller and not the adapter.
