Nice Post. Yeah i wouldn't Doubt that some smart sick bastid will figure out #1 a Mod chip for this thing, and also a way to add a HD. When people put there mind together on something it can be scary! lol...

Well i just can't wait for the release of this thing i wanna see the the graphics. all i am thinking of right now is MADDEN 2005-06

You guys think they will design a new Controller? Maybe something a bit smaller?

LiteOn 52X/LiteOn 811s DVD-RW
AMD XP2800+
LeadTek GF4Ti4200 128mb
Hitachi CML174
1GB Corsair XMS PC3200

1. Making a mod isn't gonna be easy. In Xbox1 there was already an HD and it could be replaced but even that was difficult since it was lock in a certain way. The mobo that would be put in the Xbox would be designed from scratch to exclude all not required features, to make an efficient shared memory technique and to make modding nearly impossible. MS would probably disable what a mobo needs in order to connect an HD (which isn't the same as an optical drive).
2. I didn't mind the controller being big as long as it was comfortable and MS did design a smaller controller after a while. I guess they'd make a new controller (to add to the wow effect of a brand new machine) but still support the original controller. I haven't read this anywhere but it seems logical since the controller is just USB with added power for the vibration therefor using it again seems simple so why not?

well i think loosing the hd is mostly a security issue. they got tired of ppl freely modding thier consoles to run linux lol. i like the hd alot, it is an advantage over the other consoles, and i think it may come back ot hurt ms if they decide to do so. my main gripe is backwards compatibility. youd think it would just be automatic, its a perfect thing to market and to match sony. as far as ms buying sony, maybe your right about not having quite enough capitol to do that, so right now i say ms buys nintendo lol, now that is doable and would add a nice niche segment of gamers to the xbox brand. i wouldnt mind seeing metroid, mario, zelda and some final fantasy on xbox. I could even see nintenod dropping out of the console business, focusing on handhelds, and instead developing software for consoles. in that case, ms would be smart to buy some exclusive rights.

yeah i see what you guys are saying. The hard WAS a cool idea, those shitty memory sticks are just a waste you can't hold nothing on them, the HD was a cool idea.

As for the Design, you think there gonna go with a TOTALLY differnt case design? I mean alot of people thing the xbox is HUGE and whatnot, yes it's big but i don't know about HUGE, it's like 1 1/2 ps2's... I like'd the big X design that's pretty cool. i think sony's going with a slightly eye candy'd Silverish case. I read somewhere that the ps3 IS going to be the PSX that's in japan but they are just gonna mod it up alittle. If that's the case then ps3 has a HD. And also that means MS will have a HD. I don't see why MS cares anywaay they sold a system who cares what someone does with it, i mean i can buy 5 and just let them sit in my room, what's the difference like.

170$ for an Xbox, add another 50$ for a chip (which shouldn't cost MS a thing because all it does is unlock security), install some apps and you have something that you can't even buy in a store. I know that MS is losing *a lot* of money but still, they could also bundle a device (I don't even know what to call it) that has storage space to which you can move files via Ethernet and view them. Would'nt that be the feature that'd make you get an Xbox2 over anything else?

well for me, im not buying a home theater box. i mean its nice to have the option, but i want the console for gaming. this stuff liek the psx and modding the xbox to have further capabilities are just bonuses. i want them focused on the gaming performance. if i want a dvr or network file sharing, id buy a seperate piece.

A modded Xbox does improve gaming somewhat (wink wink), though that's not what I use it for.

Have you heard of the Nintendo Gamecube? 😉

I don't exactly understand the benefits of 64-bit processing, but it must be good. I can't even imagine what Halo 3 will look like!
