you want to see Sony's *original* promised specs for PS3 ?

way back when.....

Sony promised PS3 would have an 'Emotion Engine 3' CPU with 500 million
transistors,
a 'Graphics Synthesizer 3' and that PS3 would have 1000 times the
performance of PS2.

this simply shows how many promises they make and not be able to take
care of.

Prior to launch of the PS2, Sony promised the PS2 would include AOL Instant
Messaging and have characters "whose facial expressions were incredibly
lifelike" as they progressed through the game.

Sony also promised software that the PS2 "would incorporate visual imaging,
saying it would enable users to import photographs from a digital camera,
then animate these in 3D, add sounds, and email them to their family or
friends, just like a greeting card."

At the E3 show highlighting the PS2, Sony showed Killzone-like graphic demos
(i.e. - all smoke and mirrors, not actual gameplay), namely a lifelike
female character from "Ridge Racer" strutting a catwalk and winking
flirtatiously at viewers. The Dreamcast had more better looking games than
the PS2 launch titles.

In 1999, Sony promised PS3 would have an 'Emotion Engine 3' CPU with 500
million transistors, a 'Graphics Synthesizer 3' and that PS3 would have
1000 times the performance of PS2.

Less than a month ago, Sony promised the PS3 would be a "quantum leap" in
gaming.

When initially asked, a Sony rep said with a straight face that the Killzone
demo they showed at E3 was actual real-time gameplay footage. It has since
been proven to have just been CGI demo by a Scottish graphics house.

I'll admit I'm picking on Sony here. Xbox has done the same. But I'm
focusing on Sony Corp in part because they do it better - and overall, I
think that's worse for us, the gaming community. I don't want Sony to
continue to have a near monolopy on gaming because they have a better PR
machine - I want them to produce the best hardware.

And currently, because of past promises, spin and hype, I actually question
whether Sony's machine which is still in development will be all that they
promised.

That's the price of Spin.
