Just purchased an Olympus C750 and need additional xD cards, batteries, xD
carry case and a USB xD card read/write drive.

Any experience with differences between Olympus branded and Fuji or other
brands?

Thanks in advance...

nope they all pretty much work the same as each other.

the panorama feature of your 750 will only work with olympus brand cards
tho.

make sure any reader you buy can handle cards larger than 128mb (some
can't) and get usb 2 compatible reader (even if youve not got usb2 yet on
your pc

the olympus mausb-100 is very compact, usb2 compliant and doubles as a usb
keydisk when you leave a card in it. - its a nice reader.

Slight change of topic, but perhaps relevant...

I have a 512MB Fuji xD Card and bought a Dazzle (Razzle) xD card reader for
it to connect to my Dell desktop. The reader wouldn't do anything at all
with the card, so I swapped it for a Fuji one (DPC-R1) which largely works
but (a) comes with software apparently unapproved for Windows XP, and (b)
crashes my Windows XP system occasionally. There is apparently no updated
driver available.

Explanations/theories for the failure are (a) its USB connection is not
comfortable with other USB devices on the system (wireless connection &
printer), (b) its 'disk' structure is not compatible with having both a
CD-ROM and a DVD drive on the system as well as a 120GB hard drive, (c)
512MB is just a bit too greedy. None of these seems very convincing, but
I've not been able to get Dell or Fuji to accept responsibility for this
annoying failing.

Meanwhile my laptop has a Fuji PCMCIA xD card reader which works perfectly
every time.

Thank you - that is good information. Amazon has the Olympus branded xD
card is about the same as the other brands, and the reader's price is
aligned as well... I had read one post that said the reader got too hot and
wasn't worth the $$ but a bad sample can crop up anywhere.

appreciate the response... jcs

Colin,

I have a 512MB Olympus-branded xD card that I use in my Fuji S7000. I
purchased a Dazzle multi-card (10different types) reader for a recent trip,
and it worked flawlessly on various sized xD and compact flash cards -
mostly 256 and 512MB. The notebook I connected it to was an HP running
Windows XP Pro. No software was necessary, as the card reader was
automatically recognized.
