The i7-2600 is slightly faster with it's higher clock and boost speeds. If the Xeon is far cheaper, get that, assuming you are on a tight budget.

Both are great. Take cheaper one. They should perform about the same. Xeon is more for workstation/server. If your main purpose not gaming, but working with software(cad, video editing, etc.) grab xeon.

The Xeon e3-1245 is 2ng gen Intel, Sandy Bridge, same as the i7-2600, with 100Mhz less on clocks so will be a few fps behind.

The Xeon e3-1245v2 is 3rd gen Intel, Ivy-Bridge, at the same clocks as the i7-2600, so has a noticable advantage.

Xeon e3-1245v3 is 4th gen Intel, Haswell, so will not work on lga1155.

Important distinction. Which one exactly is it?
