Title pretty much says it all. As far as I see these chip's i7 equivalents are the i7 3820 and i7 3930k respectively but there don't seem to be any good comparisons out there for gaming performance. I currently am using a 980ti along with an E5-1620 and I am trying to figure out if I should drop around $100 for an E5-1650. Mainly GTAV at 1440p has some hiccups with the 1620, would a 1650 actually make a noticeable difference? Its worth noting that I am not going to be able to overclock these even though their multipliers seems to be unlocked as I am on an HP z420 motherboard.

Xeon E5 1620 is likely do better. Your right, I can't seem to find any detail comparison between those parts. The 1620 clocks in higher and most games will never use the last two core or extra four threads.
