There is this page at Intel's about Xeon processors naming, what is the socket type (2,4,6,8) also referred there as well as the version and the SKU, what do these numbers and letters mean?

I was referring to the socket type(2,4,6,8), I was under the impression that sockets names look like LGA 1155, not a single digit, so is it the number of sockets on the board?

The CPU socket ID does not have to match the real socket name. When you want a Cheeseburger, Fries, and soda do you actually say that or just say "#1 combo"? Same thing. There must be some other chart that shows that socket number to the actual socket type.
