Dual Cpu setp.

Will there be much of a performance increase in going from Dual x5450 3.0ghz to dual x5492 3.4 ghz.

Or is it a complete waste. Hard to find benchmarks on these cpus.

Hello... Well the external CPU communications (memory/GPU/SATA) will be the same speed and CPU design ... it just what the CPU has to do 0.4ghz faster with all 8 cores B / and most games and apps don't use all 8 cores... in 24/7 it adds up with business data... but to me 1300 points on the CPU PassMark is not ground breaking to my eyes B / I look for near doubling of the Passmark score for a $$$ upgrade decision and experience.

anything the CPU does will be faster... file conversion Yes... but depending on the size and time needed now? 15% faster B /

Gaming FPS will come from a better a GPU with either CPU... not just the CPU's job here.

Might be time to put the Old Workstation to rest in a shallow grave.

Seems I am out of upgrade options on it. The x5450 kept it relevant for a few years.

Still a decent machine for someone. Not that it is meant for it but it plays games decent.

Hello... THX for the pics... I bought a HP Kayak years years ago... and had my first intel Dual CPU system... and I was always wanting to upgrade the pair Of CPU's in it... and did it 2 x's. BUT eventually the NEWER CPU's, BUSS, communications slots, etc were getting faster and better.

I have a i7 Xeon one chip... E3 1240 v2 in matx MB... that is low on heat and energy use... http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Xeon+E3-1240+V2+@+3.40GHz
