XFX 5570 + ASUS P5KPL-AM EPU MB no good

Does anyone have this set up working properly? It seems the MB doesn't recognize the card. I'm running an E6500 Intel. I have an 800 BFG PSU.
XFX said DOA card or MB doesn't support it. Exchanged it for a different XFX 5770 and same problem. Does anyone have an MB that runs DDR2 1066 RAM and supports an E6500 Intel that is using this card and if so, which board is it?

I am running the newest BIOS (version 415). XFX is now telling me the G31 chipset is PCI-E 1.1 and online their are posts of the chipset having trouble recognizing PCI-E 2.1 cards. The box states it is PCI-E x16 which IS PCI-E 2.0, is it not? PCI-E 1 being x8? Sounds like ASUS screwed me.

No, x16 refers to the width of the connection in the number of PCI-E lanes or the length of the slot, not the PCI-E spec or revision.

G31 will support PCI-E 2.0 cards just fine even though its only PCI-E 1.x. Its probably a BIOS issue with ATI's newer PCI-E "2.1" implementation on the Radeon 5000 Series cards. Its a frequent problem that motherboards need a new BIOS every time ATI releases a GPU with an "improved" PCI-E implementation. Same thing happened with the Radeon 4000 Series - lots of motherboards needed BIOS updates to work with them.

Contact ASUS and file a tech support inquiry/request.

Thank you for the clarification on PCI-E. I have contacted ASUS and after four days have still not heard back from them, hopefully in the next day or two I will.

Motherboards with PCIe1.x x16 slots may support PCIe2.0 gfx cards but not Radeon HD5xxx cards. This is what I have learned from many forums on the net.

Again, its not the motherboard, per se. Its ATI's PCI Express implementation which changes with every new generation of cards, requiring a BIOS update to many motherboards.

Was able to finally get the BIOS updated, still no go. ASUS had nothing useful to say and even seemed as if the person didn't actually read my entire message. I responded back asking if they had a newer Beta BIOS.
I read on one forum that Samsung monitors have also been having trouble with the newest graphics cards, could it somehow be my monitor? It's a Samsung T220 model using the DVI input, single thread DVI cord.

If the system will display a POST screen, then it could be the monitor. Test another one. If the system will not POST, then its not likely to be an issue with the monitor.
