It's all about the stability - sick of my ATI vertical line/grey screen crashes. My old Nvidia never crashed this much - heck no video card I owned in the last 10 years crashed so much as my ATI 5770, and I am not the only one with this issue - just read the official ati forums - it's a nightmare.

[citation][nom]AMW1011[/nom]Hopefully all the more recent rumors are wrong and the GTX 480 is at least 20% faster than the 5870, because if nothing else that is an awesome looking heatsink.[/citation]

I have to imagine there's a snowflake's chance in hell that the GTX 480 will outperform a 5870 with the most recent drivers by 2x (or more) nVidia's "official" benchmark. Sure, it could happen, but that seems pretty unlikely to me.

[citation][nom]shadow187[/nom]I'm tired of Tom's hyping of everyone for nVidia. Did you do this for ATI? No, I didn't think so.[/citation]

Yes, but Fermi is the biggest tease in the PC industry since Duke Nukem Forever. ATI delivered while nVidia procrastinated.

So everytime someone whips it out for Nvidia, Toms will show the pictures?... The only thing I hope to get out of these cards is an eventual ATI price drop...

[citation][nom]Derbixrace[/nom]you probably need a nuclear powerplant to run one lol[/citation]
Actually, it will probably turn your computer into a nuclear power plant. Have a crowbar handy when you fire it up.

Hmm, interestingly, it takes the shape of a reference Quadro. (minus the 295w TDP and monster heatsink to accommodate it)

henrystrawn, That's exactly what I did. I have one 5770, one to go! :)

the_krasno, I agree with you.

Well, this will be interesting. Even as an ATi user, a card that can run C++ natively is pretty neat (providing it even hits the market...)

So it also opens a portal to Xen? Get ready to fight those head humpers then.

Looks great, nice case art, but then again, its just art, a nice looking case, and a nifty cooler, we just cant wait for the full specs and actual benchmarks!!! 320bit for the 870 sounds fimiliar though. Wasnt the 8800GTS also 320 bit?!? I wonder why it was never followed up for the 9xxx series.......
