I don't have either one but whenever I read vid cards roundups it seems that EVGA always comes on top in power consumption and temperature, while still having good overall performance.
I prefer XFX for overall better quality, but EVGA has the trade-up program. My only real problem with EVGA is their noisy fans. For what they charge, they could do a little better on this.
I,ve been asking myself the same question. The nice thing about EVGA is it's Step-up program as tlmc said. but XFX has the better warranty. A few months ago I would have never looked at the difference in warranty's but after my dead asus mobo, i really started looking at the difference in warranty. So that's why I would go for XFX.
BFG's warranty sucks by the way there lifetime warranty does not include the fan that's only 1 year, which is most likely to fail on a older GPU. and you can not mod the GPU by adding a new/different cooler. so however you put it you will not have a true lifetime warranty.
XFX alows you to mod a GPU and still not void the warranty.
i was debating whether or not to just wait on getting an 8800 hopefully when the price goes down when the 8900 cards come out, but there is no release date except "some time this holiday."
what do you guys think? wait it out or just get it now?
yea i saw that to, but $250 bucks is too steep for me even though i know its a good deal. and honestly, i dont think an extra $140 is worth it. if you guys want to donate money for me to get one though let me know. 😛
I just went EVGA with my 8800GT since i know something better is coming out early Q1 08 and 90day Step up will cover me till Mid February so i can hopefully trade up when it comes out if its worth it...
Alright i have had a few Video card over the years and i tust and like XFX for the Double lifetime Warranty yes so on and xfx video card 7X 8X cards with the Double lifetime warranty you can sell the card with the lifetime warranty it's awsome
thats tempting, but i placed my order with buy.com already. and i have a feeling i won't be playing crysis at all. sad days.
You will be playing just at lower res like 800x600 at low settings. Heck, I played it on a 7600gt at 1280x1024 at low settings. According to fraps I was doing about 30fps. It was in DX9 on Windows XP SP1 though. It looked OK, but a little jaggedy around the edges. I did not notice too much as I was trying to keep from getting my ass blown off.
