Today I installed my new R9 390 (1015 core clock version), my specs are 4770k, GA‑Z87X‑UD4H, 16gb ram. The issue I'm having is when I shut off a game or alt/tab out of the game I get a flash of color, mostly purple. Running 1080p. Reminds me of back in the day when you would switch input between a VCR and TV. I had the new Crimson drivers installed, but that stuff is making FO4 run badly. So I backed down to the last CCC beta drivers. It doesn't do it every time and it almost acts like the faster I alt tab, the less likely I will see this. The card I removed today is a Vapor X 7970 Ghz and I never had this issue with that card. Is this the way the 390 or XFX cards, or is this a card problem?

Hello,

It could be a bad card, but i wouldn't rule out drivers or 3rd party software interfering either. A clean driver reinstall may be in order. Did you already try something like this?

Tutorial for proper driver installation.

1-Load windows with only your primary graphics card plugged in.
2-Disable any and ALL anti-virus/malware protection.
3-Download and Run the 15.11 (or latest) drivers from AMD.com (Omega drivers do not have Uninstall built in, you have to do it through add/remove, which is okay)
4-Choose to Uninstall/express (may not be available in newest version, download an older version) the existing drivers, and AMD folder
5-Restart the computer.
6-Disable any and ALL anti-virus/malware protection.
7-Run the 15.11 drivers from AMD.com
8-Choose to Install/Express the drivers
9-Restart. Confirm settings are working in windows.
10-Shutdown and add 2nd/3rd cards for Xfire.
11-Respond to this ticket if you have any further questions
** If you have nvidia drivers on your computer, you might need to run the Uninstall feature of Nvidias driver as well.

Thank you for the reply. I got the card on Friday, the next day I got a new SSD. So Saturday I upgraded to win 10 and did a fresh install on the SSD and reformatted my other drives. Currently running 15.201.1151-150821a-188665E drivers. I had backed out of Crimson because I thought that could have been the issue, then I noticed the Crimson issue over the weekend so glad I rolled back. Even after the fresh install I am still getting this flash of color, like a switching of AV inputs. Happens now when going from the splash screen for win 10 to the login screen as well as when shutting down a game or alt/tabbing out of a game. I have been watching my temps and made a custom curve to keep the temps in the low 60's under load while gaming to see if heat was an issue in this. Appears to have no effect either way. Went ahead and pulled the card back out and inspected the card, did not see anything abnormal with it where it connects to the PCIe. Reinstalled and it is still doing the same. I was running Windows Essential on win 7 now I have the newer version Defender IIRC on 10. As for third party software, I haven't loaded anything down on this new install except Steam, Origin, Uplay, Fallout 4 and couple other games. If there is anything else you think I should do before contacting Newegg. (who I got the card from) I would be more than happy to try.
